The ASHRAE Hawaii Chapter is pleased to welcome Joshua McDonough as Chapter Programs Chair. Joshua previously served in this role during the 2019–2020 chapter year and again from 2022–2025, bringing valuable experience and leadership to the position.
As Chapter Programs Chair, Joshua is committed to delivering engaging and relevant programs that provide value to members across the HVAC&R industry. His focus is centered on supporting John Fuller’s presidential initiative emphasizing sustainability, energy efficiency, and the advancement of innovative building solutions. Through thoughtfully planned technical sessions, networking opportunities, and educational programming, Joshua aims to continue fostering professional growth and industry collaboration within the Hawaii Chapter.

Technical Presentation
Topic: Do's and Don'ts, Testing, Adjusting and Balancing (TAB)
Presnter: Carey Tomasa, Air Balance Hawaii
Synopsis: TAB is critical to achieve proper operation of an HVAC system. The TAB technicians face numerous challenges in trying to achieve the air flows specified by the designer while working with the ductwork and materials installed by the construction contractor. Audience will learn about the obstacles that the TAB technicians encounter as they perform TAB and what effects it has on the final results.

Student Presenters: Earl L. Cox III, John K. Humel, Cody J. Ichimura, & William L. Lewis III
Synopsis: Discussion on UHM student's design project "HVAC System Selection and Design - Two Story Government Office Building in Beijing, China." The students focused on designing the HVAC system around numerous factors, such as environment conditions, design criteria, system sizing, and ASHRAE standard compliance, outlined to them by the Owner's Project Requirements (OPR).
