Unitary Heating, Ventilation, & Air Conditioning (HVAC)
Participants will learn about the fundamentals of HVAC systems found in residential and small-to-medium commercial and industrial facilities. The focus is on package-unit, split and VRF system components, controls, and applications. This course begins with the science of human comfort and heat transfer as it affects HVAC sizing and efficiency. Next we look at several types of unitary HVAC equipment, how it works, and the advantages of different configurations. We will take a look at new advances in HVAC technology for condensers, evaporators, and compressors including variable refrigerant flow.
After that, we explore control opportunities, equipment performance, and high tech systems. We conclude by investigating the impact of maintenance efficiency, fault detection, field auditing, and unit replacement economics.
This course presents the fundamentals of air-conditioning systems found in residential and small-to-medium commercial and industrial facilities. Some previous AC system experience is helpful, but this workshop covers the basics.
