2026-2027 Chair:

Joshua McDonough, PE

The ASHRAE Hawaii Chapter is pleased to welcome Joshua McDonough as Chapter Programs Chair. Joshua previously served in this role during the 2019–2020 chapter year and again from 2022–2025, bringing valuable experience and leadership to the position.

As Chapter Programs Chair, Joshua is committed to delivering engaging and relevant programs that provide value to members across the HVAC&R industry. His focus is centered on supporting John Fuller’s presidential initiative emphasizing sustainability, energy efficiency, and the advancement of innovative building solutions. Through thoughtfully planned technical sessions, networking opportunities, and educational programming, Joshua aims to continue fostering professional growth and industry collaboration within the Hawaii Chapter.

Meet the Speakers:

Jodi Ito

Jodi Ito, CISO, University of Hawai`i Systems, Narrator

Jodi Ito is the Chief Information Security Officer with the University of Hawaii System and is responsible for the security and protection of its institutional information assets. These responsibilities include development and management of policies and procedures related to information security, conducts risk & vulnerability analysis for critical assets, conducts investigations into cyber incidents, & develops/conducts training on information security issues across all 10 UH campuses.  She is also active in    professional organizations such as EDUCAUSE, CyberHawaii, NWACC and is the Program Director for NSA's GenCyber camps in Hawaii.

Jodi is the Principal Investigator and Program Director for the NSA’s GenCyber Camps in Hawaii to  introduce cyber security to middle & high school students and teachers. And she is also active in national organizations: as co-chair for the EDUCAUSE Higher Education Information Security Council, co-chair of the EDUCAUSE Annual Conference Program Committee, and Associate Coordinator for the Cybersecurity Program of the NorthWest Academic Computing Consortium.  

 

Alan Ito

Alan Ito, University of Hawai`i Systems, formally with HPH

Alan Ito recently joined the University of Hawaii as IT Workforce Development & Regulated Policy Lead.  Immediately prior to this, he was information security officer for Hawaii Pacific Health responsible for the oversight of Hawai‘i Pacific Health’s information security programs.  Prior to joining Hawai‘i Pacific Health, Mr. Ito held various information technology leadership positions including chief information officer for TeamPraxis, Hawai‘i Health Systems Corp., and St. Francis Healthcare System. He helped start the Regional Extension Center program at the Hawai‘i Health Information Exchange and was involved in starting Convergence CT, a health care data company.  

 

Tammi Chun

Tammi Chun, Associate VP for Academic Affairs, UH Community Colleges

Tammi Chun is the Associate VP for Academic Affairs for the University of Hawai‘i Community Colleges. Tammi leads statewide initiatives with the seven community colleges that enable more of  Hawai‘i's residents to achieve their educational and career goals. Tammi has held key positions in Hawai‘i's government and nonprofit sectors including assistant superintendent for the Office of Strategy, Innovation and Performance at the State of Hawaii Department of Education; vice president for programs at Hawaii Community Foundation; policy analyst for the Office of the Governor; and executive director for Hawaii P-20 Partnerships for Education. Previously, she conducted education and social policy research at the RAND Corporation and the University of Pennsylvania. She earned an educational doctorate from the University of Southern California Rossier School of Education; a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government; and a bachelor’s degree from Pomona College. Tammi is the chair of the Center for Tomorrow’s Leaders and a member of Aloha United Way’s Community Impact Council.  She is an Aspen Presidential Fellow and Omidyar Fellow. She previously served on the ‘Aina Haina Elementary School Community Council.  

 

David Rolla

David Rolla, CISSP, CISM, Hawaiian Electric Company/Industries 

David Rolla is the Chief Information Security Officer and Director of Information Assurance at Hawaiian Electric Company in Honolulu, Hawaii. He is responsible for developing and executing the enterprise cyber security program for corporate IT systems, Industrial Control Systems, and Smart Grid systems deployed across five of the Hawaiian Islands.

Prior to joining Hawaiian Electric, David served as a Systems Engineer for a global automotive manufacturer, where he led efforts to develop and implement industrial automation networks, SCADA systems, and Human Machine Interfaces in automobile production facilities.

David holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and a MBA degree from Robert Morris University.
