The ASHRAE Hawaii Chapter is pleased to welcome Joshua McDonough as Chapter Programs Chair. Joshua previously served in this role during the 2019–2020 chapter year and again from 2022–2025, bringing valuable experience and leadership to the position.
As Chapter Programs Chair, Joshua is committed to delivering engaging and relevant programs that provide value to members across the HVAC&R industry. His focus is centered on supporting John Fuller’s presidential initiative emphasizing sustainability, energy efficiency, and the advancement of innovative building solutions. Through thoughtfully planned technical sessions, networking opportunities, and educational programming, Joshua aims to continue fostering professional growth and industry collaboration within the Hawaii Chapter.

Commercial Building Energy Audits
This 6-hour seminar will be held over two days and will provide guidance on how to perform commercial building energy audits. Best practices and other information relevant for building owners, managers and government entitles are covered. The seminar includes a summary of materials essential for performing ASHRAE Level 1, 2 and 3 audits, time-saving tips for every auditor, how to hire an auditor, what to ask for in a comprehensive audit report, and how to build a successful energy efficiency retrofit team.
This ALI course/seminar may be a suitable resource to help prepare for a Certification exam or earn PDHs for recertification. Meeting will be presented via GoToMeeting. Electronic copy of the presentation will be provided, 3 months of access to recorded version is included.
Barry Abramson, PE, is Principal of Servidyne, an energy and sustainability consulting firm based in Atlanta, GA. Barry has spent the past 40 years consulting on energy and HVAC issues for existing buildings. He was Principal Investigator for an ASHRAE research project on HVAC equipment service life, with the results published in the ASHRAE Handbook. He is past-Chair of the USGBC LEED Energy and Atmosphere Technical Advisory Group and serves on the ASHRAE Committee for Standard 211, Commercial Building Energy Audits. Barry holds a Bachelor of Science in Energy and Environmental Engineering from Stanford University.
