The ASHRAE Hawaii Chapter is pleased to welcome Joshua McDonough as Chapter Programs Chair. Joshua previously served in this role during the 2019–2020 chapter year and again from 2022–2025, bringing valuable experience and leadership to the position.
As Chapter Programs Chair, Joshua is committed to delivering engaging and relevant programs that provide value to members across the HVAC&R industry. His focus is centered on supporting John Fuller’s presidential initiative emphasizing sustainability, energy efficiency, and the advancement of innovative building solutions. Through thoughtfully planned technical sessions, networking opportunities, and educational programming, Joshua aims to continue fostering professional growth and industry collaboration within the Hawaii Chapter.

9:30 AM – 10:30 AM Mr. Michael Sheerin - He will describe the technical rationale behind the ASHRAE/ASHE guidance and examples of healthcare industry actions as the COVID pandemic began, will provide an overview of recent ASHRAE initiatives, and how healthcare facilities will be adjusting to serve their communities in a world with active COVID cases.
11:00 AM – 11:50 AM Mr. Addison Bonner – he will be discussing Contracting Law Series 3rd Edition. Liquidated damages; payments/progress payments, retentions, close out- get out- get paid; and legalities of you hiring from competitor, or you leaving to a competitor.

Mr. Michael Sheerin, PE, LEED AP - Michael Sheerin is the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman at TLC Engineering Solutions, Inc., a national top 20, full service engineering firm headquartered in Orlando, Florida with nearly 400 staff in 13 offices across the USA. TLC provides MEP/Structural/Technology & Energy/Cx services for owners seeking high performance building design and operation. In addition to leading the strategic direction of the firm, Michael is actively involved in the codes and standards development process that impact the healthcare industry. He presently serves as Chair of ASHRAE Standard 170, Ventilation for Health Care Facilities and Chair of ASHRAE Standard 189.3, Design, Construction & Operation of Sustainable High-Performance Health Care Facilities.
His project experience includes planning the Washington Adventist Hospital replacement in Silver Springs, Maryland, the new Nemours Children’s Hospital in Orlando, FL and the campus expansions at Piedmont Atlanta and Children’s Hospital Cairo, Egypt.

Mr. Addison Bonner – Mr.Bonner is a lawyer that devotes a significant portion of his practice to the representation of contractors and design professionals facing litigation being threatened or brought by individual owners and associations, in residential, commercial, and industrial contexts. Mr. Bonner’s experience includes advising as to risk mitigation practices before and during projects, as well as investigation and defense of claims lodged in state and federal courts, or pending in alternative dispute resolution forums, including mediation and arbitration.
