Topic: The Do’s and Don’t’s of DOAS
If designed and utilized correctly, a DOAS, or Designated Outdoor Air System, can provide a multitude of benefits in
new construction or retrofit applications. Due to the extreme climate in Hawaii, some special considerations must be
made in order to maximize these benefits. You are invited to join us as we discuss the proper implementation of Hawaii
DOAS for optimal performance and sustainability.

David Lindsay, E.I.T., holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the
University of Missouri – Columbia. Based out of the CaptiveAire Southern California office,
David specializes in assisting with DOAS design and selection in various applications. David
keeps up to date with the latest HVAC technologies and resources through his membership in
the Orange Empire Chapter of ASHRAE.

Topic: DDC Controls Round Table
Automatic control systems are widely used in the HAVC industry. As design consultants, contractors, equipment
suppliers, we all need to deal with it on a daily basis. Controls can sometimes be mysterious, and understanding
their application in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems is important for ensuring proper operation of
equipment, as well as to save energy for clients. Towards that end, ASHRAE Hawaii chapter assembled a panel of
control experts in our local industry for the upcoming October monthly meeting to unravel the mystery of control
systems, as well as discuss changes and advances made in the controls industry in recent years and update us about
the future direction of the industry. Therefore, please join us in our upcoming monthly meeting to hear and learn
from the best control experts of our local industry!
