Come join us for the October monthy meeting of the ASHRAE Hawaii Chapter.  The location will be at the St. Louis Alumni Association Clubhouse on 916 Coolidge St. with catering from Da Kitchen.  Parking is available at the Clubhouse, at First Hawaiian Bank with validation at the Clubhouse, and on the street.

The Do's and Don'ts presentation will be on Induction Beam Systems by Lawrence Ahn of Carrier and the main technical presentation will be on Seismic Bracing Requirements per the newly adopted IBC 2006 and ASCE/SEI code by Lawrence Turner of Vibro-Acoustics.

Do's and Don'ts: Induction Beam Systems provide individual temperature control and increased system energy efficiency, which may contribute to meeting the requirements of the LEED green building certification program.  In addition this technology will allow the equipment and ductwork sizes to be reduced making it easier to fit into a building space.  This also reduces the energy required to supply the ventilation air to the building.

Main Technical Presentation:  With Hawaii being in an area where potential extreme events like hurricanes and earthquakes are a definite reality, this presentation will be a can’t miss for engineering consultants, contractors, manufacturer reps and building owners to assist in the long term safety of a project by detailing the requirements of IBC 2006 and ASCE 7-05 with regards to seismic and wind bracing.
