The ASHRAE Hawaii Chapter is pleased to welcome Joshua McDonough as Chapter Programs Chair. Joshua previously served in this role during the 2019–2020 chapter year and again from 2022–2025, bringing valuable experience and leadership to the position.
As Chapter Programs Chair, Joshua is committed to delivering engaging and relevant programs that provide value to members across the HVAC&R industry. His focus is centered on supporting John Fuller’s presidential initiative emphasizing sustainability, energy efficiency, and the advancement of innovative building solutions. Through thoughtfully planned technical sessions, networking opportunities, and educational programming, Joshua aims to continue fostering professional growth and industry collaboration within the Hawaii Chapter.

Topic: Types of Building Acoustics
presentation will discuss the different types of building acoustics (sound isolation, interior room acoustics, and mechanical noise and vibration control), current acoustical design criteria and standards, as well as some best practice acoustical design considerations for new and existing projects.

Kristina M. Sells has over seven years of experience as an acoustical consultant and audio/visual (AV) design engineer with the most recent year spent as the leader of WSP’s Building Technology Systems group in Hawaii. Mrs. Sells is well-versed in a wide range of acoustical services including sound isolation, mechanical noise and vibration control, interior room acoustics, and environmental acoustics. With experience on project types such as resorts/hotels, educational facilities, residential and mixed use, commercial, hospital and healthcare facilities, Kristina consistently delivers acoustical and technology solutions designed to best meet the needs, objectives and budgets of clients.
