Main Program
Topic: The State of Hawaii's 2015 International Energy Efficiency Code
Mr. Wiig will very briefly highlight the near-revolutionary changes to the residential portion of the 2015 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) compared to the extant 2006 IECC. He will then launch into the 2015 IECC envelope requirements and how they substantially affect the HVAC and lighting components. He will then delve into the particulars of the HVAC section including the “one more thing” provision. Finally, Mr. Wiig will paint a picture of compliance with the IECC, based on a recent study by the Hawaii Energy Office consultant, Mr. Erik Kolderup, PE. While compliance is generally good, in some spots excellent, a glaring exception is commissioning. Mr. Wiig hopes to generate discussion on that issue.
Presenters: Howard C. Wiig

Howard Wiig is an Energy Analyst for the State of Hawai‘i. In this capacity, he is project manager for building energy codes, enabling and facilitating Hawai‘i’s transition to a clean energy economy by reducing the energy consumed in new and renovated homes and commercial buildings.
