Student Presenters: Ryan Chun, Ket Harada and Po`okela Stillman Reyes on the 2017 ASHRAE Student Design Competition on a newly constructed Chile Meteorological Station on Islas Diego Ramirez, Chile. The process of analyzing the requirements, designing a system and selecting equipment was instrumental in the student’s level of understanding of HVAC&R systems. The systems selections were compared using life cycle cost analysis, which included initial costs as well as operation and maintenance costs.
Main Program
Distinguished Lecturer - Victor Goldschmidt PhD, Purdue University
Topic: Releasing Individuals' Own Creativity
Growth requires change; change is aided by new ideas; and new ideas require creativity. The potential to be creative is within all of us. The lecture is intended as a means for individuals to attempt to realize their own potential to be creative. Theories of creativity, blocks to creativity, and exercises to develop creativity are presented. Examples of engineering students awakening their creativity will be presented. These will be from a decade of facilitating a course on engineering creativity. To the extent possible, the lecture will include some audience participation.
Presenter:
